Morton believed to date from 1888 election. The piece displays patriotic imagery including crossed American flags, stars, a federal eagle and slogan "Protect Home Industry". A protectionist campaign theme of the era. This textle does appear to be a kerchief that has been mounted to a board (date unknown) Mounting has caused darkening over the years.
