This vintage child's commode chair is constructed from wooden planks in a primitive folk art style. The piece features a tall backrest with a decorative scalloped top edge and an integrated rectangular hand-hold. Solid side panels form the armrests, which are finished with scrolled fronts. The seat consists of a hinged wooden lid with a large circular central aperture. Contained within the base is a removable white enameled metal basin characterized by a contrasting red rim. The chair is assembled using simple nail construction and is finished in white paint. Dimensions (approximate, measured against a ruler): H 15 in x W 12.5 in x D 12 in. Condition: The commode chair is in fair vintage condition with significant cosmetic wear. The white painted finish is heavily distressed, exhibiting extensive chipping, peeling, and loss across all surfaces. Oxidation is visible on nail heads and around the rim of the enamel basin where the coating has worn away. The wooden components show minor splitting and wear consistent with age and use.
