A late nineteenth-century American late Victorian Cottage style three-drawer dresser constructed from a light-toned hardwood, possibly maple or birch, with a warm honey finish. The chest features an attached swing mirror mounted on two curved harp-style supports, topped with a decorative crest featuring carved foliate scrollwork. The three drawers are constructed with machine-made Knapp joinery, also known as pin-and-scallop joints. The drawer fronts are fitted with six patinated metal bail pulls on decorative backplates, and the top drawer contains an inset keyhole. The bureau is raised on four metal casters. Dimensions (measured against a tape measure showing inches only): H 64 inches x W 33.75 inches x D 16.5 inches. Condition: The dresser is in fair to good antique condition. The top surface exhibits significant dark staining and areas of localized deep charring or burn marks, along with general scuffs, scratches, and finish wear throughout the body. One drawer side shows a visible past repair with adhesive or wood filler residue near the joint. The mirror glass shows minor silvering loss and foxing, primarily along the lower edge.
