[METALLURGY; ENGINEERING.] CHENOT, ADRIEN. Letters patent on vellum, granted to Claude Bernard Adriend Chenot of Paris, for “Improvements in accumulating and heating gases of Combustion and also in generating and applying the same to metallurgic and other purposes,” London, February 1, 1854, 2 pp, oversize folio (760 x 520 mm), vellum, partially printed and completed in manuscript, engraved pictorial borders, signed and certified by one Edmonds of the patent office, Royal seal, 154 cm diameter, affixed by cord and housed in metal cannister. Chenot (1803-1855) was a French engineer known for his metallurgical inventions and important research on combustible gasses. He was awarded the Gold Medal of Honor at the Exposition Universelle of 1855. Condition Some trivial soiling, folding creases, minor losses to edges of seal.
