A pair of framed honors presented to Michel Roux. Includes an Office of the Mayor-President, City of Baton Rouge commission appointing Roux Honorary Mayor-President, signed by Mayor-President Tom Ed McHugh, and an April 6, 1990 proclamation recognizing Michel Roux as an honorary member of the Shoshoni Nation for his philanthropic activities and support of Indigenous communities. Both retain official seals and are framed under glass.<br> <br> These items are pre-owned, previously stored/displayed, with minor imperfections, age-related wear to the frame and documents, and surface markings. One of Mr. Roux’s signature spirits at Crillon was absinthe, the anise-flavored spirit known for its popularity among 19th-century artists like van Gogh and Toulouse-Lautrec. It was banned in the United States in 1912 amid concerns that wormwood, one of its ingredients, which contained thujone, caused hallucinations. In 2000, Mr. Roux introduced a legal absinthe, Absente, which used a sister botanical, Southern wormwood, with only trace amounts of thujone.
