NO SHIPPING - LOCAL PICKUP ONLY ~ SEE CONDITION REPORT BELOW > Hardrock maple in the Colonial manner, freestanding book case, bookcase, magazine butler and periodicals holder measuring 29" tall x 22" wide x 10" deep. Constructed with scalloped end risers, turned front legs, shaped upper crest with hand opening, multiple open storage tiers and turned dowel retainers designed to keep books, magazines, newspapers and other reading material upright and accessible. This type of article was commonly used beside a chair, sofa, desk or reading area as a compact bookcase and periodicals butler, providing vertical storage without the bulk of a full cabinet. The narrow footprint also makes it useful today as a children’s book bin, vinyl record holder, magazine rack, cottagecore decor or farmhouse chic accent. The hardrock maple construction, warm Colonial finish, turned legs and shaped side profiles give the piece a traditional Early American character. Open front access allows books, records or periodicals to be sorted by shelf while the dowel retainers help prevent taller material from falling forward. CONDITION REPORT > Dusty and in need of cleaning. Structurally sturdy overall and retaining a good finish considering age, use and materials. One turned dowel retainer is detached because a portion of one scalloped end riser has broken away and been lost over the years. The detached dowel is present as photographed. Additional scattered scratches, finish wear and minor age related marks are visible. Offered as pictured.
