Legendary 1932 advertising campaign for the French apéritif Dubonnet, after artist A.M. Cassandre. Size: 27.5 x 38.5 in. Unframed. Medium: Lithograph on heavy paper. Condition: Very good viewing condition. Mild waviness in the paper. Signature: Appears to be hand signed in pencil by the artist. Dubo-Dubon-Dubonnet. 1932. Among French posters of the twentieth century none is better known among Frenchmen than Dubo...Dubon...Dubonnet. It was kept in circulation for more than two decades and issued in a variety of formats ... Whether or not Cassandre was thinking of comic strips or motion pictures is impossible to say, but in any case this Dubonnet poster is his most overtly witty. The slogan is a pun using the words dubo (doubt), du bon (good), and Dubonnet.
