Military Ammo Cans .50 Cal and M728 Fuze

Updated September 23, 2026

Two United States military surplus steel ammunition cans from the Ferguson estate, both empty. One is stenciled 100 CARTRIDGES CAL .50 LINKED M9 1 TRACER M17-4 BALL M33 with lot marking LC-87C611L184. The other is a proximity fuze can stenciled N463 8 FUZE PROXIMITY M728, lot RYB-5-1A, loaded 11-74. Both are the olive drab pressed steel pattern with a folding wire bail handle, a hinged lid and the original gasket in the lid channel. Paint is worn with scuffs, scratches and light surface rust along the seams and around the latches, and the white stenciling is faded but readable. Latches work and both lids close. Dated cans like these are bought for dry storage of powder, primers and loaded ammunition and are equally popular as shop and range boxes. Condition is good for surplus. Cans of this pattern stack flat, carry easily by the folding bail and will take a padlock through the latch if the buyer wants one. Estimated Value: $25 to $50 based on comparable recent sales. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors. Please review all photos before bidding.
