Cathy Ross (b. 1958) is a New Brunswick-born artist known for her delicate and highly observed watercolours of still life, nature, and everyday objects. Born in Saint John, Ross studied at Mount Allison University and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She later received a scholarship to the Banff School of Fine Arts and was twice awarded grants from the Elizabeth T. Greenshields Foundation. Ross's work is characterized by careful observation, subtle colour, and an intimate attention to the beauty found in ordinary objects. Her paintings often isolate a single flower, fruit, vessel, or familiar object, inviting the viewer to pause and appreciate its form, texture, and character. Her work has been exhibited extensively throughout Canada and the United States and is held in numerous public and corporate collections, including the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the New Brunswick Museum, the Canada Council Art Bank, and the Banff Centre. Ross maintains strong ties to New Brunswick and lives and works in Waterloo, Ontario, and Saint Andrews, New Brunswick.
