Oil painting on canvas after Young Women Looking at Japanese Articles by French artist Jacques-Joseph James Tissot. The composition depicts two elegantly dressed young women examining Japanese objects within a richly appointed interior, reflecting the fascination with Japanese art and design that swept through European culture during the second half of the 19th century. The work captures Tissot's characteristic combination of fashionable society, meticulously rendered textiles, decorative interiors, and Japonisme influences.
