Hole, William Brassey (British/Scottish, 1846–1917). Untitled landscape after Corot. Identified in plate below image. 7 1/4" x 5 5/8" (Sight). 13 3/4" x 10 5/8" (Frame). Descriptive tag in French affixed to backing verso. Matted in a wood frame. Not examined out of frame. William Hole was a Scottish painter and etcher renowned for his historical subjects and major public commissions. Based in Edinburgh, he is best known for creating the murals and decorative scheme of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, where his paintings celebrate Scotland's history and notable figures.
