Allen, Robert Weir (Scottish, 1851-1942). Rossarrell Point Ireland. Watercolor. Unsigned, titled and dated May 1874 lower left. Matted in a wood frame. Not examined out of frame. Robert Weir Allan was a Scottish landscape and marine painter celebrated for his atmospheric coastal scenes and expressive plein-air technique. Trained at the Académie Julian in Paris, he was influenced by French Naturalism and Impressionism, exhibited extensively at the Royal Academy, and became Vice-President of the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours.
