Ball, Wilfrid Williams (British, 1853-1917). View from the Venice Lagoon. Etching, signed in pencil lower left. 7 1/2" x 18 1/4" (Sight). 13 5/8" x 24 1/8" (Frame). Matted in a wood frame. Not examined out of frame. Wilfrid Williams Ball, RBA, RE, was a celebrated British Victorian and Edwardian artist known for his atmospheric watercolor landscapes and marine scenes. A largely self-taught painter and accomplished etcher, he exhibited widely, published illustrated books on Sussex and Hampshire, and earned recognition for his picturesque depictions of the English countryside.
