1933 Worlds Fair Byrd Ship Girey Compact This historic 1933 Chicago World's Fair souvenir makeup compact was manufactured by Girey and styled like a miniature Art Deco camera. Measuring just under 2.75 inches long, the solid brass case features a striking marbled green pearlescent front panel deeply embossed with Rear Admiral Byrd's famous Antarctic exploration vessel, stamped "Byrd's South Pole Ship." The spring-loaded dual push tabs open to reveal the original interior vanity contents, including a pink rouge block and a secondary swing-hinged door stamped "By Girey" that protects the lower face powder compartment. It is in good vintage condition with light, authentic surface wear, making it an exceptional find for collectors of pre-war exposition history and early cosmetics.
