beautifully decorated porcelain plate in the Rococo revival style, likely from the 19th century. Dimension: 10"W The plate features alternating panels of hand-painted romantic pastoral scenes with couples in 18th-century attire, and floral sprays against a turquoise-blue ground. Center: The central medallion contains a delicate floral motif framed with a gilded border. Border: The rim is decorated with intricate gilt scrollwork in neoclassical Rococo taste. Reverse: The underside bears a painted blue underglaze crossed sword mark, strongly resembling the Meissen porcelain factory mark (Germany). This mark has been widely imitated, so determining authenticity depends on closer examination of the porcelain, painting quality, and the exact form of the mark. The figural scenes reflect a Rococo-inspired theme, popular in the mid-to-late 18th century and revived in the 19th century.
