pair of antique French Louis XV style gilt and patinated bronze fire dogs (chenets), which are ornamental hearth decorations widely popular from the late 18th century through the late 19th century. Dimension: 12"x 11 1/2" each. Each chenet features a seated, dark-patinated boy cupid (putto) . The left one has cherub sits atop the scroll while holding and tuning an old mechanical box-organ or musical box. The Right cherub Figure leans backwards while playfully playing a flute.
