5"W plate. antique Sèvres reticulated porcelain cup and saucer, This golden-stamped mark on the bottom of the cup represents a historical "gate" or basket-weave mark, which serves as an important authentication key. shield mark containing the text "ZSOLNAY / PÉCS" is the classic trademark of the Zsolnay factory based in Pécs, Hungary. Rich gold accents heighten the cell borders, the micro-dotted geometric bands, the top rim, and the handle. The stylized handle is reminiscent of structural bamboo or stylized foliate work, an aesthetic highly popularized by the Chinoiserie movements of French porcelain manufactures. An elegant, concentric band of gold-painted Gothic or Chinoiserie-style arches rings the smooth center. This delicate filigree exactly mirrors the pattern found on the interior upper rim of your cup.
