Dimension:7"L. an elaborate animal-head spout, apparently modeled as a mythical Chinese creature. The head has a long snout, curled decorative features, and a raised ornamental form along the top. The spout emerges organically from the body and curves slightly upward. The pot has a rounded, bulbous body with a deep dark reddish-brown/purple-brown glaze or finish. The surface is smooth and polished, with subtle highlights along the curved body. The pot has a domed lid with a raised circular rim. At the very top is a sculptural foo-dog/lion-like finial, giving the piece a strongly traditional Chinese decorative character. The body is decorated with gold-colored applied or painted imagery of grapevines and bunches of grapes. The vines wind horizontally around the pot, while large leaves and clusters of individual grapes are rendered in gold. Some of the leaves have detailed incised or brushed lines. The reverse side of the pot is incised with a multi-character Chinese poetic inscription filled in with light gold-colored pigment. Written in a fluid semi-cursive script (Xingshu), it reads phrases related to tea culture
