mid-century vintage engine-turned cigarette case personalized with a custom "Gladys" script nameplate. Dimension:205.7gram. 3 1/4"x 4 3/4". The case features a classic engine-turned (guilloché) pattern, an intricate geometric engraving technique popular in metalwork from the 1920s through the 1950s. the inside was finished with a bright gold wash to prevent corrosion and protect the contents. A complete set of official British silver hallmarks stamped by the Birmingham Assay Office. W.H.S (Sponsor / Maker's Mark): This identifies the silversmithing firm as William Henry Sparrow (who partnered extensively with H. Williamson Ltd.). They were notable manufacturing silversmiths based out of the historic Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, England, operating actively during the late Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco eras. Anchor: The official town mark for the Birmingham Assay Office. Lion Passant (Walking Lion): The traditional British standard mark certifying that the piece is solid Sterling Silver (.925 purity)
