Antique Mozart Photogravure – Berlin Photographic Company Original antique photogravure portrait of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, published by the Photographische Gesellschaft in Berlin / Berlin Photographic Company during the late 19th to early 20th century. The British Museum in London holds an example of the same Mozart image, catalogued as a photogravure after Johann Heinrich Tischbein I and published by the Berlin Photographic Company. The museum dates its example to 1897–1908 and records it under Museum No. 1908,0404.350. Markings & Details: Publisher inscription: “Photographische Gesellschaft in Berlin” Artist credit: “Tischbein pinx.” Catalogue/image number: 4778 Antique photogravure printing process Printed on substantial, heavy period art paper Deckled lower paper edge Impressed border surrounding the portrait Blind-embossed mark visible in the lower margin Unframed Dimensions: Overall sheet: approximately 12.25 × 17.5 inches Impressed image/border area: approximately 9.75 × 12.25 inches Condition: Excellent antique condition for a print more than a century old. Clean margins with strong image clarity and fine tonal detail. No major staining, water damage, or apparent trimming. Currently stored rolled and protected.
