For sale is a gorgeous, structurally solid mid-19th century Victorian Prie-Dieu (prayer) chair (1850-1870). Features a unique, highly sought-after "T-Back" design with hand-carved acanthus leaf walnut legs and its original brass caster wheels. The front showcases intricate, original floral needlepoint/tapestry work on a deep purple background. The back was previously updated with a teal-blue fabric and gold gimp trim. Condition: Excellent structural condition. Frame is tight and does not wobble. The wood finish is in great shape for its age. Please note there is a tear in the original fabric on the right and left edge of the seat cushion (see photos). Perfect restoration project piece for an enthusiast or a stunning accent chair as-is.
