An exceptionally appealing vintage CCM NHL Heritage Collection New York Americans "Circa 1938" throwback hockey sweater, size XL, commemorating one of the most historically fascinating and visually distinctive franchises of early National Hockey League history. Produced by CCM/Sport Maska as part of its celebrated Heritage program, the sweater recreates the classic red-and-cream aesthetic associated with the New York Americans, the pioneering Madison Square Garden club that brought NHL hockey to New York City before the arrival of the New York Rangers.

The cream knit body is dramatically accented by deep red shoulder panels, sleeve trim, cuffs and broad lower-body striping. Its principal visual feature is the substantial layered New York Americans crest, combining dark felt, red appliqué, embroidered white "AMERICANS" lettering and the intertwined "NY" monogram, framed above by six applied stars. The bold period-inspired graphics and traditional sweater construction give the piece considerably more presence than a conventional modern replica jersey and strongly evoke the look of prewar professional hockey.

Of particular collector interest are the NHL Heritage Collection labels by CCM/Sport Maska and the embroidered "Circa 1938" designation at the lower front. These details identify the sweater as an early-generation Heritage Collection issue rather than a later generic retro reproduction. The "Circa 1938" designation is commemorative and refers to the historic uniform design being recreated; this is not represented as an original 1930s game-worn or team-issued sweater.

The New York Americans occupy an important place in NHL history. Established in 1925, the franchise was New York City's first NHL club and played its home games at Madison Square Garden. The Americans competed through the pre-Original Six era before ceasing operations during the Second World War, leaving behind a relatively limited surviving legacy of team-related material compared with the NHL's continuously operating franchises. Consequently, well-presented Americans memorabilia has particular crossover appeal among collectors of defunct NHL teams, vintage hockey uniforms, Madison Square Garden history, New York sports memorabilia and early professional hockey.

The sweater displays the substantial visual qualities that make the early CCM Heritage series increasingly attractive as collectible vintage sportswear: heavyweight knit construction, sewn and embroidered decoration, period-inspired typography, historic franchise graphics and prominent Heritage branding. Size XL, as indicated by the collar tag.

Condition is consistent with age and previous ownership. Scattered light brown spotting, minor staining and general age-related discoloration are visible in areas of the cream knit, particularly toward the lower body, with additional light handling and storage wear. The embroidered and appliquéd graphics remain vivid and visually strong, the red an
