This rare and highly collectible Marc Chagall lithograph print, titled Derrière Le Miroir, is an original plate from the celebrated French art publication of the same name, published by Galerie Maeght. Printed in Paris during the mid-20th century (circa 1960s), this work captures Chagall’s whimsical, dreamlike aesthetic in a rich monochromatic palette, showcasing his signature themes of musicians, floating figures, and surrealist symbolism. The composition brims with movement and imagination - featuring a central figure holding a painter’s palette, a violinist in the background, a galloping horse, and Chagall’s iconic lovers hovering midair, all infused with poetic mysticism.
This lithograph is signed in plate at lower right and professionally presented in a modern black frame with archival white matting. The artwork itself measures approximately 14 2/3" x 10 2/3", while the overall framed dimensions are 24 1/2" x 23 1/3". The piece is in excellent condition, with no staining, tears, or foxing visible upon close inspection - making it museum-ready and suitable for prominent display in a fine art collection, high-design interior, or gallery.
As a vintage original from Derrière Le Miroir (DLM), which featured collaborations with 20th-century masters such as Picasso, Miró, Giacometti, and Léger, this work is both a historical artifact and a striking visual statement. These authentic lithographic plates were printed in limited numbers and are increasingly rare on the secondary market—especially in such pristine condition with custom framing. It is especially desirable for collectors of Chagall’s work or mid-century French modernism.
