An impressive and unusually extensive 88-piece Baroque by Godinger silverplate flatware service, distinguished by the lavish sculptural ornament for which this highly decorative pattern is sought. Drawing upon the exuberant vocabulary of European Baroque and Rococo design, the handles are richly modeled with scrolling acanthus, shell and foliate motifs in deep relief, producing a particularly dramatic presentation appropriate to formal dining and display. Individual pieces are impressed "BAROQUE BY GODINGER ©," firmly identifying the celebrated Godinger pattern.

The substantial service comprises 88 pieces in total, including twelve dinner knives displayed across the upper tier together with a broad assortment of forks, spoons and specialty serving utensils, including pierced servers and larger serving forms. The generous number of pieces and variety of implements make this considerably more substantial than the smaller Godinger place-setting groups frequently encountered on the secondary market and enhance its appeal as both a functional formal service and a decorative collection.

The flatware is presented in a fitted wood storage chest with rich red velvet-lined interior, providing an elegant period-style presentation that complements the elaborate silverplate decoration. The combination of an extensive piece count, highly recognizable Baroque pattern, numerous serving implements and fitted presentation case gives the lot strong crossover appeal to collectors of Godinger silverplate, vintage flatware, ornate tableware, Rococo Revival decorative arts and formal entertaining accessories.

Condition is consistent with previous use and storage, with scattered surface scratching, tarnish, oxidation, discoloration and areas of wear to the plated surfaces, most visibly to several knife blades. The fitted chest displays expected minor handling and storage wear. No significant structural damage is evident. Silverplate, not sterling silver.

88 pieces total. Fitted box measures 19 3/4" x 11 1/2" x 3 1/4" tall.
