An elegant and highly collectible contemporary Inuit stone sculpture titled Bear, hand carved by Abe Shaa of Dorset, Nunavut, in 2026. Measuring 5 3/4" x 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" tall, this compact yet powerfully modeled work captures the bear in a low, forward-moving stance, with an elongated muzzle, rounded shoulders, full haunches, and a quietly commanding presence. The sculpture is carved from dark polished stone, likely serpentine or related Inuit carving stone, with subtle natural surface variation, soft sheen, and hand-worked texture visible throughout.<br><br>The bear is rendered in the distinctive Kinngait/Cape Dorset carving tradition, where simplified mass, tactile form, and animal spirit are emphasized over excessive detail. The face is especially compelling, with incised mouth and ear details, pale eye accents, and a strong horizontal profile that gives the figure a sense of motion and watchfulness.
