1906 Waltham 15J Gold-Filled Hunter Pocket Watch

An early 20th-century American Waltham hunter-case pocket watch, serial-dated by consignor research to circa 1905-1906. The 15-jewel movement is signed ‘American Waltham Watch Co.’ in scrolled script across a nickel-plate w/ damaskeened swirl finishing, marked ‘15 JEWELS’ and serial no. 14634385. White porcelain dial signed ‘WALTHAM’ below the XII, w/ black Roman numeral hours, red Arabic 5-minute chapter ring, sunk sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and blued steel spade hour and minute hands. Both hunter covers and case band are engraved w/ Art Nouveau foliate scroll and vine cartouches over an engine-turned guilloche ground, w/ a reeded crown and hinged bow. The inside back cover is stamped w/ the Philadelphia Watch Case Co. crown cartouche, ‘GUARANTEED TWENTY YEARS,’ and case serial no. 8177084, indicating a gold-filled (not solid gold) case per period marking convention. Case diameter approximately 1.49 in. (1.66 in. across the bow), 1.23 in. thick w/ front cover open, crown 0.31 in. The crystal is cracked; movement and dial appear intact but function is untested — winds and sets to be verified by buyer. Shows overall polish wear, light scratches to the case, and expected patina throughout. All items are sold as-is.
