Large hand-carved wooden wall sculpture featuring a standing human figure surrounded by geometric shield-like forms, curved ribbed elements and a long pointed lower section. Decorated with white, black and reddish-brown pigment and fitted with hanging wire. Measures approximately 49 inches tall. Exact country, tribal affiliation, age and ceremonial purpose are unknown, and no maker’s marks or provenance are present. Offered as an African-style decorative or ethnographic carving without attribution to a particular culture. Displays substantial age-related wear, wood cracking, pigment loss, surface abrasions, small losses and a naturally weathered patina. Do not clean or refinish.
