Very old handmade wooden document or valuables box constructed from dark hardwood with brass corner straps, iron hinges, a long iron locking hasp and small raised feet. The aged wood, simple construction and hand-worked hardware give it excellent primitive character. Measures approximately 16 inches wide x 9.5 inches deep x 6 inches tall. Likely dates to the 19th century or very early 20th century. Shows extensive authentic age, including finish loss, scratches, staining, oxidation and interior residue.
