Large antique edition of Harper’s Pictorial History of the Civil War, illustrated throughout with detailed black-and-white engravings, maps, battle scenes, military camps, prominent figures and other Civil War subjects. Pages shown include the September 1862 coverage of the Maryland invasion and Battle of Antietam. The work was originally copyrighted in 1866, although this appears to be a later 19th-century edition, likely circa 1890s. Exact printing date and completeness have not been verified. Measures approximately 16.5 inches tall x 11 inches wide. Condition is poor and fragile with heavy cover wear, staining, scuffing, worn corners and edges, looseness at the binding, separated or partially detached pages, edge tears, toning, spotting and other wear appropriate for age.
