Japan Vintage circa 1960s metal tabletop lighter modeled after the German WWII Type VIIC submarine U-581. Detailed figural design includes conning tower, deck structures, periscopes, propellers, rudders, and a removable lighter incorporated into the upper portion. Mounted on a fitted display base marked "U-581" with red felt underneath. Lighter component is marked Japan. This is a postwar commemorative novelty lighter and not a wartime-issued artifact. The lighter has not been fueled or tested and working condition is unknown. Surface wear, scratches, tarnish, oxidation, finish discoloration, and wear to the felt are present.
