Imperial German Model 1898/05 a.A. "Butcher Blade" bayonet manufactured by P.D. Lüneschloss of Solingen. This early-pattern bayonet features the distinctive high pommel ears, curved quillon, grooved wooden grips and heavy fullered blade. Designed for use with the German Gewehr 98 rifle. * Approximately 19.75 inches long overall * Approximately 14.5-inch blade * Marked “P.D. Lüneschloss, Solingen” * Early S98/05 a.A. high-ear pattern * Estimated pre-WWI to early-WWI era, circa 1905-1915 * Wood grips exhibit scratches, darkening and handling wear * Blade exhibits polishing, finish loss, oxidation, staining, scratches and edge wear * Metal fittings exhibit dark patina and surface oxidation * No scabbard included * Please examine all photographs closely for markings and condition This item came from a collector’s estate.
