Updated September 16, 2026

Title: The Eye, Rose, and Butterflies in a Surreal Landscape Technique: Gouache on paper Measures: 11 x 8 inches Year: 20th century Condition: Good overall condition, with vivid colors and minor age-related wear consistent with the medium. The reverse exhibits paint marks, staining, surface wear, labels, and ink stamps. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the condition report. Provenance: The reverse bears a Galerie Mathias Fels, Paris, label identifying Salvador Dalí, “Sans titre,” mixed media, and dimensions of 22 x 29 cm. Additional reverse markings reference Galerie Mathias Fels & Cie., Paris, and the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí. These labels and stamps are presented as found and have not been independently verified. Visual Description: A dreamlike landscape featuring a monumental eye rising behind a melting blue form, a tall white rose, and several hovering butterflies. Jagged reddish mountains and a distant elephant-like figure appear beneath a luminous blue and golden sky. The unexpected combination of symbolic objects, distorted forms, and an expansive barren setting evokes the Surrealist imagery associated with Salvador Dalí. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
