PTEROSAUR PATTERNS FROM THE MING DYNASTY. <br>Height:30cm (11.81in) , Diameter:28cm (11.02in) This imposing jar features straight mouth, short neck, broad full shoulder, rounded belly and splayed foot ring. Neck is decorated with eight Buddhist treasures. Shoulder is adorned with open?window scrolling lotus patterns. The main body depicts winged dragons soaring among swirling clouds, with powerful physique, flying mane and outstretched wings. The lower section is encircled by sea?wave and rocky cliff motifs. The cobalt?blue pigment is rich and vibrant, forming sharp contrast against white glaze, painted with vigorous brushwork in well?arranged multi?layered composition. The unglazed sandy base is solid, bearing aged earth patina and wear traces. Winged?dragon is an auspicious classic Ming decorative theme.
