IMPERIAL SEAL. <br>Height:6.4cm (2.52in) , Width:5cm (1.97in) , Weight:280g (0.617lb) An imperial square seal of Tongzhi reign, Qing Dynasty, carved from Shoushan stone with reddish?brown variegated tone, solid mellow texture and deep antique patina. The knob is high?relief carved as recumbent qilin mythical beast, with meticulously rendered mane, scales and limbs in powerful imposing manner. The side of seal plinth bears neatly incised regular?script imperial dated inscription ??Treasure of Emperor Tongzhi, Imperial manufacture, 1st year of Tongzhi??, accompanied by small auxiliary seal. The square seal face is inscribed in vermilion nine?fold seal script, enclosed by multi?dragon decorative border. The characters are grand and well?composed with deep sharp grooves, thick aged seal?paste remains on surface.
