A vintage two-piece figural earthenware cookie jar designed in the form of a stylized owl. The piece features a lid consisting of the upper head and tufted ears, with a body displaying molded relief feathers and folded wings. The recessed base is impressed with the numeral 204 at the top and the letters USA at the bottom.Height: 10 1/2 inchesBase Diameter: 5 1/4 inchesThe cookie jar is in good vintage condition. There are minor losses to the cold-painted dark brown finish on both pupils and a small chip is located on the unglazed inner rim of the lid. The unglazed contact rings on the lid and base exhibit moderate shelf wear and darkening consistent with age. A small circular unglazed spot in the center of the base is an inherent manufacturing artifact. No visible cracks or repairs are noted.
