A Federal Tall-Case Clock, Riley Whiting. Winchester, Connecticut, c.1820. Grain-painted and inlaid softwood case with pierced scroll crest, engaged reeded quarter columns, paneled trunk door, and French feet. Painted wooden Arabic-numeral dial signed ‘R. Whiting / Winchester,’ with subsidiary seconds and calendar dials, floral spandrels, and an eagle-decorated arch. Interior retains a later paper repair label for ‘N. A. Draper, Clock Repairer, St. Albans, Vt.’ Condition: General surface wear, scratches, finish variation, and scattered veneer or inlay losses. Three crest finials absent; losses and repairs around the base. Dial with staining, craquelure, and paint wear. Repair label is toned, torn, and incomplete. Weights and pendulum not shown; completeness and working condition unknown.
