Frobisher bay, Iqaluit, striding Polar Bear, carved from a distinct grey stone, signed Henry and disc number under front left paw E5-846, 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 2 inches. Evaluardjuk is known primarily for his sculpture but his talent equally lies in his drawings and paintings. Henry's style is realism. Like many other Inuit artists, he mostly draws his inspiration from the Arctic wildlife. His favourite subject matter are polar bears, often in unusual or heroic poses, or with exaggerated proportions. Evaluardjuk's ability to bring out the animal essence is what make his sculpture distinctive. (Source: Katilvik.com). Provenance: The Estate of Mr. C. Ross Gledhill, Esquire, Montreal/Knowlton Quebec.
