An important sketch (1812) for the completed portrait of George the IV as Prince Regent of the United Kingdom (1811-1820) on natural material. Inscribed verso: At the Royal table was said to be the best & most gentleman like picture of him, with further deferential reference to Thomas Lawrence's portrait, frame engraved Andrew Robertson, 4 x 3 3/8 inches. Provenance: Fine Ottawa Estate. Purchase invoice from LAPADA registered The McEwan Gallery Broadway, 39b High Street, Broadway, Worc., WR12 7DP, Agust 1988 in hand. This lot can not be shipped outside of Canada unless a permit is issued to return to the UK for example.
