A very good 19th-century French patinated and gilt bronze (ormolu) figure depicting a seated 17th-century author or scholar (likely Molière, La Fontaine, or Corneille) holding a quill and open book while seated on an ornate gilt-bronze chair, measuring approx. 13 3/4 x 14 1/2 x 8 inches. Condition noted: lower leg section at the boot joint is slightly loose.
