Family album caption: "'Monteith' (very rare). We bought -- only saw one, in Williamsburg." -- the family specifically prized this as a rare Monteith-form bowl. Chinese Export armorial porcelain oval monteith/fruit bowl ( "7" x 10", 4" Deep"), scalloped crown-form gilt rim, blue diaper border band, twin gilt loop handles, front centered with an armorial crest -- mantled shield bearing a floral urn device beneath a shamrock/trefoil finial -- flanked by pennant banners. Old collection inscription in red script to the underside base, partially legible ("JTN" or similar). Highlight lot -- armorial Chinese Export porcelain.
