Rault (1847-1903) Gold Ring of Goddess Athena. <br><br>Ring Size: US 9.5-10 Wt:11.8g<br>Louis Rault (1847?1903) was a leading French Art?Nouveau medallist, sculptor and goldsmith active during Paris's Belle ?poque from 1880 to 1900. He exhibited repeatedly at the Salon des Champs??lys??es, and was regarded by antique?jewellery historian Vever as one of the pre?eminent relief?chasing masters of the 19th?century. The ring bezel is carved with a bust of Athena, ancient Greek goddess of wisdom and war, wearing a griffin?crested helmet. The griffin, the mythical eagle?lion composite beast, symbolises honour, warding?off of malice and patronage in worldly pursuits.
