Scott #65, 1861 3¢ Washington, rose / brown-red (used).Design, perforations (12), paper, and overall appearance match the earlier example exactly. Color is again in the common rose to brown-red range for #65. Bold black manuscript “X” (or cross) cancel across the face.Additional greenish cancel at the bottom, partially covering the lower inscription.Manuscript cancels are common on this issue. The green component adds a little visual interest but does not change the basic valuation for an ordinary used single.
