This round enameled cast iron Dutch oven, or cocotte, was manufactured in Belgium by Descoware. The exterior features a gradated orange to red porcelain enamel finish. The interior is finished in a cream-colored enamel. The vessel is designed with two integrated side handles and is accompanied by a matching heavy lid topped with a black phenolic knob. The base of the pot is marked with a circular stamp containing the text DESCOWARE MADE IN BELGIUM surrounding a central D and the number 22. The underside of the lid features an incised letter D. Diameter measured against a ruler: approx. 8.75 inches (22.2 cm) Height measured against a ruler: approx. 4 inches (10.2 cm) to the rim; approx. 6 inches (15.2 cm) to the top of the lid knob. Condition: The item is in vintage, used condition. The exterior enamel retains good color with minor surface scuffing and small chips along the rims of both the pot and lid. The interior enamel shows signs of significant use, including dark staining, discoloration, and pitting on the bottom surface. The exposed cast iron on the rims of the pot and lid exhibits light surface oxidation.
