The barrel is stamped "Savage Arms Corporation — Utica, N.Y. — Made in U.S.A." with the receiver marked "Savage Model 99" and ".300 Savage — Hi-Pressure Steel — Proof Tested," along with an individual serial number stamped on the barrel shank. The bolt carrier shows a decorative jeweled finish visible through the loading port. The stock and schnabel-tip forearm are cut from deeply figured, tiger-striped walnut with a fine diamond-point checkering panel, paired with a smooth-cycling lever, a comfortable curved finger loop, and a mottled casehardened-style receiver finish that sets off the wood beautifully. A standout example for Savage and lever-action collectors who prize exceptional wood — this exhibition-grade walnut sets it apart from the ordinary run of the model, condition issue notwithstanding.
