Joe Sewell Autographed Hillerich & Bradsby Joe Sewell Personal Model Louisville Slugger 125 Baseball Bat. Knob reads "C28". Featuring the signature of one of the greatest contact hitters and most difficult batters to strike out in Major League Baseball history. The bat carries Sewell's personal model identification and is further marked "C28" on the knob, creating a particularly attractive display piece closely associated with the Hall of Fame infielder. Sewell spent 14 seasons in the Major Leagues with the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees, finishing his career with 2,226 hits, a .312 lifetime batting average and an extraordinary .391 on base percentage while helping Cleveland capture the 1920 World Series championship and later winning another championship with the Yankees in 1932. His most remarkable accomplishment, however, was his almost unparalleled ability to put the baseball in play. Sewell struck out only 114 times in 7,132 career at bats, including an astonishing three strikeouts in 503 at bats during the entire 1932 season, and once went 115 consecutive games without striking out, establishing a standard for bat control that remains legendary nearly a century later. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977, recognizing a career that made him one of the premier shortstops of his generation. Sewell passed away in 1990, permanently limiting the supply of genuine signed material, while full size autographed bats bearing his own personal model designation are considerably more difficult to encounter than conventional signed photographs, cards or cuts. Combining a Joe Sewell autograph, Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger craftsmanship, personal model designation, C28 knob marking, Hall of Fame pedigree and the legacy of one of baseball's most extraordinary contact hitters, this impressive bat represents a tremendous centerpiece for any Joe Sewell, Cleveland, New York Yankees, Hall of Fame, vintage baseball or advanced autograph collection.
