Charlie Gehringer Autographed Hillerich & Bradsby Genuine Chas Gehringer Personal Model Louisville Slugger 125 Baseball Bat. Inscribed "1949 H.O.F.". Known throughout his career as "The Mechanical Man" for his extraordinary consistency and fundamentally flawless style of play, Gehringer spent his entire 19 season Major League career with the Detroit Tigers from 1924 through 1942, establishing himself as one of the greatest second basemen in baseball history. He compiled 2,839 hits, a .320 lifetime batting average, 574 doubles and 1,775 runs scored, appeared in the first six Major League All Star Games from 1933 through 1938, captured the 1937 American League MVP Award after batting .371, and helped lead Detroit to consecutive American League pennants in 1934 and 1935, culminating in the Tigers' first World Series championship in 1935. Gehringer was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1949, making the accompanying "1949 H.O.F." inscription especially significant as a direct reference to the crowning honor of his legendary career. Further enhancing the piece is the Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger 125 bearing the "Chas Gehringer" personal model facsimile barrel signature, providing a far stronger connection to Gehringer's playing career than a conventional souvenir bat. Gehringer passed away in 1993, permanently limiting the supply of authentic signed material, while substantial display pieces such as autographed personal model bats with Hall of Fame inscriptions are considerably more difficult to encounter than traditional signed cards, photographs or cuts. Combining a Hall of Fame autograph, desirable "1949 H.O.F." inscription, classic Louisville Slugger craftsmanship, Detroit Tigers history and Gehringer's own personal model designation, this impressive bat represents a tremendous centerpiece for any Charlie Gehringer, Detroit Tigers, Hall of Fame, vintage baseball or advanced autograph collection.
