GSID: 201.Pre-98 Make: U.S. Springfield Model: 1881 "Forager" Trapdoor Serial #: 956 Caliber: 16 gauge Barrel Length: 23" round Low Estimate: 1,000.00 High Estimate: 1,500.00 Desirable U.S. Springfield "Forager" Model Trapdoor single shot smoothbore rifle in 16 gauge w/ a 23" round barrel (Note: only approx. 1,376 total produced) displaying ~65% blued finish (mostly to the barrel assembly) w/ balance gone to a pleasing gray/brown patina. The lockplate has an even gray patina. The hardwood stock is near fine, showing a circle "P" proof behind the lower tang & what appears to be "WB" over "1881" inspector's cartouche on the left side of the wrist area above the trigger group. Markings are sharp, action crisp & the bore is near excellent. (Pre-98; No FFL Required).
