Antique Computing Scale Co. Meat Slicer

This early 20th-century hand-crank meat slicer is constructed of heavy cast iron with a red painted finish and traces of gold pinstriping. It was manufactured between 1917 and 1925. The company originally formed in 1891 and later merged to becomepart of the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company in 1911 (which was eventually renamed IBM), but they continued producing mercantile equipment under the Computing Scale Co. name during this era. by The Computing Scale Co. of Dayton, Ohio, U. S. A. Featuring a large circular steel blade, the piece includes a manual sliding meat carriage with integrated spiked grips and a numbered thickness adjustment dial ranging from 2 to 12. The prominent spoked hand-wheel displays clear cast manufacturer lettering, while a partially intact decal on the upper housing is still visible. The slicer exhibits wear consistent with age and historic commercial use, including moderate paint loss, scattered surface oxidation, and scratching across the bare steel and aluminum components.
