A framed hand-embroidered sampler on a light-colored, coarse-weave textile. The central folk art scene depicts a two-story yellow farmhouse with a black roof and blue doors, set against stylized green and red trees with a row of pink flowers in the foreground. Three black birds are shown in flight above the house. The scene is contained within an embroidered oval border, which is inscribed with the text HOME IS BEST at the bottom. The top of the textile displays the words NORTH * SOUTH * EAST * WEST in black thread. The entire composition is framed by a border of scrolling green vines, pink roses, and red tulips, with a red heart and two dark bird motifs positioned at the bottom center. The needlework is executed in multi-colored embroidery floss. The piece is housed in a dark wood frame with a narrow gilt inner fillet. Condition: The sampler is in good overall condition with vibrant colors and intact stitching. The fabric is free of visible staining or holes. The frame exhibits minor surface wear consistent with age and handling.
