Large Hand-Knotted Afghan / Turkoman Carpet

Dimensions: Approx. 128" x 227" (10'8" x 18'11") Impressive large-format hand-knotted wool carpet, likely Afghan and executed in the traditional Turkoman/tribal style. The field is rendered in rich deep red and burgundy tones with dark navy/black detailing. The carpet features repeated rows of large geometric tribal gül medallions, separated by stylized cruciform motifs and enclosed within multiple narrow geometric and floral borders. The reverse photographs show the woven structure and are consistent with a hand-knotted construction. Estate condition with visible surface dirt, debris and general wear consistent with age and use. Some variation to the pile and colour is visible. Carpet requires professional cleaning.
